			Prior to the most recent census, this allocation gave Baker Park 42 seats (actually 43), the next three states given 25 each and the remaining 1/3 to the smallest states (57 of 175); an increase in the number of total seats to 231 has brought about a distribution that is based on each state's percentage of population more closely reflecting the relative political power of the nation.<br>
			Members of the Assembly are elected to 5 year terms, barring the early dissolution of Parliament by the Head of State upon the advice of the Prime Minister.

			The Council is apportioned so that each state has the same number of seats, currently 8 members serving eight year terms, arranged so that 1/4 of the chamber stand for re-election every 2nd odd numbered year.
