The '''EisLiga''' is the top-tier professional ice hockey league in [[Calgasia]]. The Calgasian domestic hockey system is composed of two divisions: the '''EisLiga''' (first tier) and the '''EisLiga 2''' (second tier), each comprising twelve teams starting from the 2004 season. Prior to that, both leagues consisted of eight teams each.

* Each team plays a double round-robin, for a total of 22 matches per season.
* The league's regular season standings are based on a point system. Three points are awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss.
* The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, consisting of semifinals and a final, each played as a best-of-five series.
* The playoff champion lifts the prestigious Empress Adelaide Cup, while the regular-season leader receives the Imperial Trophy.
* The bottom two teams are relegated to the EisLiga 2.

In recent years, the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the National Olympic Committee have led a modernization program for hockey arenas, in collaboration with domestic investors and several industrial sponsors. Most arenas now accommodate between 7,000 and 9,000 spectators, although special outdoor matches are still held in to preserve the unique Calgasian winter-sport tradition.

Melperk Löwen is the dominant force in the EisLiga with 16 titles and no relegations to the second division ever, the only team to achieve that feature. Bohunice EH has positioned itself as second with 15 titles, thanks to the success in the last 2 decades, while Welser AC is third in all-time table with 12 titles. Together, those three teams form the so-called '''Big Three'''.

==Governance==
The league is administered by EisHockey Calgasia, which establishes competition regulations, oversees officiating, manages player registration, enforces disciplinary rulings, and supervises the licence criteria required for club participation in different tiers. EisHockey Calgasia is part of the national Olympic Committee, who oversees sports in the country.

EisHockey Calgasia also coordinates the rest of the national competitions, manages relations with continental governing bodies, and establishes long-term policies for facilities, safety standards, and domestic talent development.
