	~~WIP~~		Kaedeki has been populated since the Zenshijidai period, approximately 5500 years before the Tanjounen, with the earliest known evidence (Hayai Hakken) of habitation in Kaedeki being simple tools dated to around 7340 Zenji in Sayakiri. The other Kaedereino islands, despite their proximity to Sayakiri, were only populated from 6500 Zenji onwards, 820 years after the Hayai Hakken. Evidence of prehistoric society are all but scant, with the only remnants being several artifacts, especially chisels, that pointed to the development of stonemasonry around 6000 Zenji.

			The earliest traces of writing were found in a Shinseito cavern, containing undeciphered text that was thought to be remnants of a perished civilisation. In Kazeshin theology, the writings were formed by the Kazeshin as a warning to the Mamai civilisation, which was then destroyed approximately 6000 years before the Tanjounen. The early civilisations of the Kaedeki archipelago were mostly sea-dwelling and sedentary, with migration happening over a prolonged period of time. The last of Kaedeki's major islands, Yonahoshi, was settled in around 3200 Zenji.

			The Kyouten indicates the birth of what is now Kaedeki to be in 6323 Zenji, when the Kazeshin endorsed the Nishimura civilisation. According to Kazeshin theology, the Kazeshin was a timeless spirit inhabiting Shinseito and caused the surrounding waters to be torrential and windy, making approaching the island unsafe if not deadly. When the Nishimura civilisation successfully made landfall on Shinseito, the Kazeshin was appeased and became their guardian spirit. The Kyouten also speaks of similar spirits inhabiting the other Kaedeki islands, but not much is known regarding their demise; the Kyouten tells of the Kazeshin defeating the other spirits in a melee more than 10,000 years before the Tanjounen, and it was the sole spirit in the Kaedeki archipelago for more than 3000 years.

			Writing on Shinseito evolved to tree bark carvings, before an early prototype of paper was invented around 5500 Zenji. The earliest manuscripts of the Kyouten were allegedly written using this early form of paper but there are no surviving copies of them left. Traces of rice cultivation was found on Ameshima, while the Ahano civilisation was known to rear livestock from the Kyouten. Hisumire also had traces of clay pottery dating around 5000 Zenji.

==Name==
The name Kaedeki is derived from the Kaedego word for wind, kaede "風", and a placename suffix, -ki "林". Not much is known regarding the origins of the name or why it came to be, but there have been a few myths suggested, with the most common one being that "Kaedeki" was named as a tribute by the Nishimura clan to the Kazeshin, the Wind God and the Nishimura clan's resident god. "Nishimura" itself is an archaic and outdated name for Kaedeki, with its only usage being in ancient texts and literature.
