 The KHD consists of 12 clubs and each club meets every other club twice during the season, once at home and once away. As of S4, the bottom ranked club are relegated to the second tier of Kanzlian football, the Kanzlian Eerstedivisie. Whilst the champions of the K1D are promoted to the KHD. The champions of the KHD would qualify for the IFCF Champions League, and since Cycle 26, the second-ranked team also qualifies for the IFCF Champions League. The top two ranked teams also qualifies for the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones. Meanwhile teams ranked third to fifth qualifies for the IFCF Challengers Cup.
 The KHD was founded as a long-awaited merger between the Eastern Premier and the Western Championship. Historically Kanzlian football has always been seperated east and west, due to historic rivalries and differences. The move was initially unsanctioned by the VVK but eventually it went ahead regardless. It started off as a corporation ran by the KHD board, with much of its sporting functions independently made by said board. It was only under VVK supervision until S6, when the KHD was handed a 50 million Gelder fine by the Office of Fair Markets for hiding financial details in their balance sheets. Mid-S6 the VVK took over the functions of the KHD and starting in S7, the VVK will run the KHD.
