3 - 1 a.e.t

----'''In Saufheine, Trosi - PreMatch'''

First place. It is still a real marvel what Löwenburg achieved in those first major international matches. As the winner of Group A, Löwenburg has now advanced to the Round of 32, joining 32 other outstanding teams. Only half will make it through! Dulle turns around from the passenger seat and grins at Alina. She is sitting alone in the back, gazing dreamily out the window. She smiles back. Dulle turns to Itzel, the driver. "Not bad, right?" Itzel laughs. "Yeah, really nice. It’s not exactly like Löwenburg or our city, but truly beautiful. It’s a bit like the northeast of Löwenburg." Dulle nods; that really does seem to be the case. Löwenburg is a vast and geographically diverse country, yet there is hardly anything quite like Saufheine. Only the most remote towns in the northeast or the south can really compare. Dulle turns toward the window and looks out.

A vast, sprawling city stretches out before him. Tall fir and pine trees line the edge of the main road. Relaxing Christmas music from Löwenburg drifts through the car. It is currently winter in Löwenburg, so the football season is on hiatus. "Relaxing Night, Hopeful Night, Eternal Night.", plays the car radio. The city is known above all for its beautiful natural surroundings, and Dulle finds the atmosphere pleasant and peaceful. It is almost a picture-perfect Christmas idyll. Itzel signals and takes the exit off the highway at a leisurely pace. This sense of tranquility extends to the city itself; after all, there is no urban expressway, unlike in Löwenburg City or Wohia-Stadt. There is even snow still on the ground in the city, though it is no longer quite so cold.

"Leon," Alina says, tapping him on the shoulder. "Take a look," she adds, holding out her phone. Dulle takes it and looks at the screen. It shows a professional photo of the home stadium, the Sauftunderarena. Dulle snorts. The name is pretty funny, especially in Löwenitsch; the root Sauf-, or the verb saufen, implies excessive alcohol consumption. That is something the Löwenburg fans will likely bring with them in their state of euphoria. The stadium holds 50,200 spectators, a number of whom will surely be Löwenburg fans, given that Löwenburg is playing against Calgaria, another nation with a Germanic vibe. "I'm really looking forward to the shopping areas," Alina says, pointing to the souvenir shops mentioned earlier. Dulle nods. They’ve spent the last few matches doing things Dulle and Itzel enjoy, so it’s only fair to let her have her turn, after all, that’s how healthy relationships last.
----'''The Opponent and Game'''

Löwenburg faces Calgasia today. Löwenburg advances as the winner of Group A. They are moving on to the next round following a sensational draw against the 25th-ranked The Golden Harp, a clear and dominant 3–0 victory over Arklanda, and a stunning upset win, 4–3, against the hosts, Edsmontik. Now, Löwenburg’s very first knockout match awaits! The Round of 32 is ready to begin, and Löwenburg is ready too - and that in a technical home match.

Löwenburg is set to face the nation of Calgasia. Calgasia was in Pot 2, owing to its top-25 ranking; in terms of nominal strength, it is therefore on par with The Golden Harp, an opponent against whom Löwenburg managed only a draw. The CFB has organized the national team since 1920, making it older than the Löwenburg squad. Although their colors are red and white, they are known as the "Black Eagles" and are fully determined to secure a win. Despite their superior ranking compared to Löwenburg, they have yet to achieve any significant international success. Partly for this reason, the opposition has opted for an ultra-defensive style of play, a choice that, interestingly, mirrors Löwenburg’s own defensive approach (specifically, a "-3" system). Consequently, the match promises to be a grueling battle of wills between two teams employing similar tactical systems. Ultimately, victory will come down to sheer determination, an area where Löwenburg has gained a boost in confidence following its recent win.

Now to the stats though. Calgasia has a history internationally. Having always played a more offensive style, they have entirely turned it upside down now. Calgasia thus finished second in their respective table, losing only against strong Sel Appa. As the 18th place in the Table of 32, they now play against us. We wish the national team all the best!
Großlöwenburg
(4-2-3-1)
Slightly changed from the match against The Golden Harp, Arklanda and Edsmontik. Ludwig von den Linden does not start first. He sits out after exhaustion from the latest matches, though is probably going to get subbed in later on.
----'''In the stadium'''

'1 The ball rolls.

'5 And as expected, the match starts incredibly slowly. Both defensive teams try to get ahold of posession and press using the wings.

'10 For now, nothing results though. Occasionally a winged attack can be fielded, but most of the time an opposite defender is able to stand in the way and block the next advance.

'17 Now first, Löwenburg can deliver a first shot. As expected, Löwenburg, because of their less defensive outline, is able to hold more of posession and fields such attacks earlier. Rolling it out from Weise over Christopher, the ball gets drawn back to Ziegler, who proceeds to pass it to Tibor, who tries a first shot. Tibor has been quite innocent for the tournament so far, though his contributions to the top and especially using Ziegler and Zankovic, who together with brutally good Ludwig von den Linden, play a good tournament so far.

'22 As much as Löwenburg tries to take control of the game, the ultra defensive style of Calgasia does not help. They have their first chance as well.

'31 And spoken to early. To beautiful passes, drawing out Meine, opens a gap, one clicker through and zack, the second goal for Edsmontik. Is Löwenburg at the end already?

'38 The match remains quite boring. Both Löwenburg and Calgasia try to increase their chances though. Or at least Löwenburg does and Calgasia uses the gaps to advance forward.

'40 In another good chance, Ziegler takes control of the ball in the mid field. Using Tibor back to Zanzokavic, Franzisk. pushes forward on the left wing and brings the ball. The following header by Labrador fails though.

'45 +4 The first half is over.
HALFTIME With no special momentum on both sites, Löwenburg and Calgasia deliver a stale mate so far. Rare chances, a hard and well-fought match, delivers this rather boring spectacle. Which is not lacking the heat on the field though. Löwenburg needs to continue to push onwards, keeping the pressure high. A role Löwenburg is definitely not used off, having played the surprising Underdog so far. We will see how it continues.
'56 As much as Löwenburg tried to come out of the first half well, seemingly it didn't work. Because as soon as the first standard/set piece of Calgasia occured, the header was unholdable by Liechtenstein. Löwenburg conceided.

'62 And seems to waver for a second. But as much as Löwenburg is already used to it by the game against Edsmontik, seeing your incredible defensive opponent immediately score after the halftime is disheartening. Calgasia has a well phase now.

'64 But Löwenburg tries to adapt quickly, takign on more and more fouls. Two yellow cards follow for Löwenburg players of Heiß and Meine.

'67 But it seems to work for the moment. Calgasia notices the increased defensive position and leaves Löwenburg the initiative again.

'73 And so its now Löwenburgs turn to run against the wall again.

'74 But successful! Ziegler passes the ball to Franzisk., who, after many tries lately, brings the ball back into the box, Labrador makes the ball clear, passes it back to Tibor who shoots and scores the equalizer! Deserving!

'76 Löwenburg increases the attacks!

'90+4 And so it results in a last corner kick for Löwenburg. With almost all people at front, Zanzokavic brings it far. Where Ludwig lurks. The tall blond beasts rises up, accepts the header and shoots it in the opposite corner. 4:3 and everyone escalates! The referee closes the match. Peter von Neustein and the bench storms the field, the yellow wall behind the goal celebrating frenetically

'76 Löwenburg increases the attacks!

'85 But so far, the Calgasian line continues to hold, though the iniative and posession is clearly layed to Löwenburg now.

'90 +5 After more fouls and subsequent overtime, the match in regular time is over. It now goes into Extra Time.
EXTRA TIME
'102 The extra time starts, initiatially without results. Labrador, not having played longer before, tires out. Ludwig von den Linden gets switched in and seems to immediately revitalize the national team.
EXTRA TIME BREAK
'111 But for a while nothing happens. Until Ludwig von den Linden makes pressure, so Christopher is able to rewin posession. With a quick pass to Ziegler, who sets it back to Tibor, who brings it to Ludwig, who shoots and boom, 2:1. A beautiful and quickly placed shot in the top left corner. Beautiful passing by the team! And the mentality seems to continue strong. The fans frenetically celebrate the goal.

'114 And so it doesn't end, barrage after barrage attacks of Löwenburg occur.

'120 The last minute breaks on. Ludwig von den Linden gets the ball from Ziegler, relays it to Tibor and with a huge shot, scoring a brutal 160 km/h on later measurements, beats the ball into the net. Peter von Neustein and the whole bunch escalate for a second time in a row, storming the pitch. The match is over, Löwenburg won in extra time dramatically!!!

----'''Post-Match Interview'''

The Löwenburg squad is gathering in a smaller, simply designed locker room featuring a classic white-and-green pattern. Or rather, that is what they are officially doing; unofficially, it’s practically a party. After all, there is plenty to celebrate this July 14th. They have cleared Round 32 and are officially advancing to the Round of 16. Tibor, today’s standout player, steps up to speak with several Löwenburg media outlets, including Sports11. The following interview has been transcribed (I for Interviewer, T for Tibor): I: Thanks for taking the time to talk about this fantastic result again today. We certainly don’t want to tear you away from the party. T: [Laughs] Haha, it’s all good. I’ve got time. I: So, you were deservedly the team’s best player today. How does it feel? T: Well, it feels fantastic. It took me a little while to get going compared to the others, especially compared to Ludwig (von der Linden), who’s been putting in some absolutely massive performances. Honestly, he probably deserved the honor the most today, even though he only played about twenty minutes or so. We’ve really gelled as a team by now, and it’s just incredibly fun. Today was a real "Arbeitssieg" (grind), we were up against a tough, defensive side, but we managed to crack them anyway. Especially thanks to the huge assist Ludwig provided in extra time... yeah, it’s just a great feeling!
----'''The SportsStudio'''

"A great feeling indeed, isn't it, Petr?" says the presenter in the Sports11 studio, turning to the person sitting next to her. The football expert checks his microphone and speaks. "Yes, truly incredible. The first-ever international knockout match, and Löwenburg actually pulled it off. A unique and truly historic day. As Tibor said, it was a real hard-fought victory. To be honest, Calgasia played really... "dirty" and just ultra-defensively. And yet, beautiful football won out today, even if we still have a long way to go. What was also great to see was Ludwig's true role in the national team. I mean, it’s obviously clear that he’s a world-class player, but voluntarily sitting on the bench and then coming on as a super-sub to deliver a performance like that in under 20 minutes, that is just incredibly good. But the others, especially Tibor, played a fantastic game too. You can still sense a bit of uncertainty in the team, particularly in defense. Our attack, on the other hand, is incredibly strong, without a doubt. And the curse of Calgasia seems to continue. Once again losing a knockout match. Just as they did in the last Indies. A fair match with a fair result; I think we Löwenburgers can be happy!" "Thanks for that assessment. Now, looking ahead: we have a big task in front of us, don't we?"

Petr nods. "Yes, indeed. It’s practically the biggest challenge imaginable. In the Round of 16, we’re facing none other than Reçueçn, the nation ranked second in the pot and, aside from Drawkland, the best team in the Indies, on paper, at least. A truly colossal task, though one we’re somewhat accustomed to. We’ve played the underdog role in these Indies for a long time, and who knows, maybe we’ll pull off another surprise. But we certainly shouldn't overestimate ourselves in that regard. For one thing, we’re facing such a strong opponent again quite soon, and in yet another completely new stadium to boot. To throw in a quick fun fact: Lionsroar participated in the International Associations Series, a tournament partly hosted in Reçueçn, during our warm-up matches. We know the results, though I’d rather not dwell on bad omens. Besides, our team back then is hardly comparable to the current one, in terms of mentality, at least." "Yes, that’s true. Could you give us some more specific figures?" "Sure, I’d be happy to. To put it briefly: we’re playing against the reigning champions. A Herculean task. Even though they’ve undergone some changes, the team has remained largely the same. And that’s certainly reflected in how they’ve played: dominant, topping their group with three wins, followed by a narrow 1–0 victory over Solgavden.
