The National Cup is an annual knockout competition involving Darmeni association football clubs. The competition is organized by the Darmeni Football Association and is open to all clubs in both Series A and Series B. Teams in the Darmeni Youth Soccer Organization Adult League and the Defense Forces Championship are also eligible. Depending on the total number of entrants however, teams from the latter two competitions may be required to qualify to the cup proper by playing in the preliminary round.
The competition is conducted in a single-elimination knockout format, wherein each tie consists of a single match. If scores are level after regulation time, extra time and if needed, kicks from the spot, are used to determine the winner of the tie. Matchups for each tie are determined by random draw, with the team being drawn first to play at home. Since the 2040-41 edition of the National Cup (excepting the 2042-43 edition, where the final was once again held at the home of one of the two competing sides), the final has been played at a neutral site. Usually this neutral site is the Stadio Rushmore in Johnho. Prior to the 2040-41 edition, the final was played at the home stadium of one of the two competing sides, chosen randomly by a coin flip following the conclusion of the semifinals.
Sterling City United is currently the most successful club, having won the competition a total of four times. Romanopolis United and Tempala United Saints are the only other two teams to have won the cup more than once, each having done so twice.
