Demot is a monarchy located in the southern hemisphere of Arrosia, originally just a nation on the mainland but eventually also occupied the large island of its southern coast to form the modern nation. It is most notable features include being the home to Skyhaven, the nation's capital and a city in the sky, as well as having native black dragons. A mostly insular nation, Demot does not involve itself much with the outside world, as their practice of druid craft sees them prefer to concentrate on themselves and lands around them than things outside them and their control.

History

The lands that are modern Demot were originally an uninhabited area in the southwestern portion of the region of Arrosia, who were colonized by a group of hunter-gathering druids who had before been a nomadic people moving from place to place. Since the originally settling of the area until the modern day, the nation has been an independent and mostly isolationist nation, excluding the near century when they were governed as a colony by Valanora, an empire to their south across the sea. The practice of druid craft by the people had them seek to harmonize with the world around them and kept the ideas of expansion and imperialism far from the national culture and likely why they were taken over by the elven empire without bloodshed, it is also cited as one of the reasons why Valanora then granted them their independence later after being presented with the opportunity to become an official part of the empire or be given their independence once more. This isolationist mindset continues to this day, where those from the nation do not often travel outside of it and not many from outside Demot visit, besides foreign dignitaries visiting for diplomatic missions with the royal family or their representatives.
