OOC:Linking to Nationstates
To allow external linking to trusted sources without triggering the anti-spam protection on the wiki, we have added some shortcuts for linking to nationstates forum posts and factbooks.
Forum Posts
To get the ID of a forum post, click the little paper icon in the top left of the post you want.
This will reload the page with the specified post at the top, and you can now check the address bar for the post ID, which is everything after the "p" in the URL
This post ID can then be used with the interwiki syntax. So a link to The History of Modern NS Sports will create a link to The History of Modern NS Sports.
Forum Topics
Forum topic links work similarly to posts, but take you to the first page of a specific forum topic (or thread). The only change is the prefix, and that you need to take the digits from the URL after the "t=" this time. This approach is useful for linking to tournaments or other forum-based resources until they can be migrated fully onto the wiki.
Campionato Esportiva I, for example, will create Campionato Esportiva I.
Factbooks
Factbooks work in a similar way to posts. All factbooks are actually dispatches, so they also have unique IDs. If you click the factbook you want to link to, and check the address bar, it should look something like this.
The highlighted section is the unique ID for that factbook. You can plug that into the interwiki syntax too. In this case, Cobre creole phrasebook will go to Cobre creole phrasebook.
Jolt Archive
It is also possible to link to topics from the Jolt archive. The interwiki format assumes that all relevant topics are within the NationStates subforum in the archive, however.
Similar to NS forum posts/topics, you will need to get the topic ID from the URL
Then pass this to the interwiki syntax, with the prefix "jolt". For example, Cup of Harmony 31 will create the following link: Cup of Harmony 31.
You cannot link to a specific post in this way, unfortunately, but this should suffice for referencing for now.
