It is summer 2002 in Saint Eleanor as of time of writing.

The Grand Republic of Saint Eleanor is an island nation just north of the Anaian continent of Aurora. It has a population of approximately 510,000, nine-tenths of which live in the capital of Saint Eleanor. The nation declared independence from Tinhampton in 1975 after a year-long civil war popularly known as the War of Independence during which it lost 38,000 inhabitants, some one-eighth of its population.

In the context of sport, Saint Eleanor is best known for its participation in international football. The Saint Eleanor League, which has twelve teams, is a top-32 league according to the IFCF (as of the start of the 2001 season). The Eleanorian national team, nicknamed the White Stars, qualified for the 91st World Cup and for the Cup of Harmony in every other cycle since the 89th, when they debuted.
