- Not to be confused with RLStates' NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), a tier of American football played at institutions of higher education in the United States.
The Football Champions Series (FCS) is the top tier of the Damukunian football system. Comprising twenty association football teams and clubs, it was founded in 2060 by the owners of twenty association football clubs after the disbandment of the Damukuni Football League (DFL). For sponsorship purposes, the league is known as the Football Champions Series presented by RTC, for its event sponsor, RTC Damukuni, a subsidiary of Banijan transportation company, Regional Transit Corporation.
Matches are generally played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with one primetime match airing on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday evenings. Unlike the DFL during its operation of club football, the FCS uses a system of promotion and relegation, like the the original Damukuni football system. Each team plays all the other teams twice; one match is played at each team's home stadium. The three worst-performing teams at the end of the season are relegated to the Football Challengers Series.
