The National League, also referred to as the Audioslavian National League, is the highest level of domestic football in Audioslavia. It was founded after the dissolution of the COCANEFA LigAnaia
Format
Fifteen teams contest the National League title every season, with each team playing one another home and away over thirty-eight matchdays. As each team only plays twenty-eight games per season, not every team plays every week. It is customary for every team to have two month-long ‘breaks’ throughout the season.
At the end of each season, the team with the most points are crowned champions, and qualification for the Champions League and Challengers Cup depends entirely on league position.
At the bottom, the two teams with the least points are relegated to the National Two, being replaced automatically by the teams finishing first and second.
The sides finishing twelfth and thirteenth in the National League join the sides finishing third and fourth in the National Two in a four-team endo-of-season single round-robin group stage wherein home advantage in each game goes to the team finishing higher up the table (IE the team finishing 12th in the National League will play three home games, the team finishing fourth in the National Two will play three away games in total). The top two teams in this league will play in the National League the following season. The bottom two will play in the National Two.
Formation
The National League was formed after the dissolution of the LigAnaia. a multiassociational league system comprised of teams from Audioslavia, Mertagne, Legalese, Starblaydia, Osarius, Krytenia. Semarland and Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and formerly Western Sunrise Islands, Ibex and Perlasilangan. Initially, only the ten highest-finishing sides from the LigAnaia were entered into the National League, but the system was changed in UICA season seventy-two with the league expanding to fifteen.
