Hawthorne Kickers are a team in the FLOX Omega Division The Top tier of Football in Xanneria.
History
Sometime in the early 1900s workers ate the Edward Searcy Meatpacking plant in Hawthorne,Denalia formed a footballing club known as the "Edward Searcy Kickers" for workers to enjoy themselves when not working. Unfortunately the exact date of the club formation is unknown although it is widely believed to have been founded in 1902. This club lasted for over 30 years as a strictly intramural club and eventually the team played in a citywide amateur league. By time the 1930s hit Xanneria, football had started to see its first forays into professionalism. The writing was on the wall for the Kickers, and in 1934 with Edward Searcy's son Gregory at the helm of operations, the team went professional. In 1934 they joined the Western Xanneria Football Association. This league was centered around Hawthorne with 5 of the original 10 clubs being located in or within a short distance of Hawthorne. Eventually the league would merge into the Football League of Xanneria in the early 80s as new technologies in travel such as Jet Airliners allowed people traverse between the long distances of Xanneria much easier, the national got "smaller" and the League grew.
The Kickers started like all the other WXFA teams in the new fifth tier of football, soon they found themselves slowly climbing up the ladder and a decade later made it to the second tier of Xannerian football. but between 1990-2020 it seemed as if the team would be a constant yo-yo between the FLOX Omega Division and the FLOX Gamma Division. But in 2020 they signed Glenn Hailey Out of the University of East Troy. Glenn instantly changed the fourtines of the Kickers, leading them not only to a consistent success on the field, but also he became the leader of the Baptism of Fire 69 championship winning team. Now the Kickers are one of the most consistent frontrunners in FLOX. The Kickers also have the distinction of going further than another team from Xanneria when it comes to international domestic football competitions. Hawthorne were runners up in Campionato Esportivano di Campeones 32, losing to the Walstreim Lions of South Newlandia.
Rivals
Traditionally Hawthorne United and Galaxy SC have been the two main rivals to the Kickers. Kickers vs Galaxy is known as the Movieland Derby (Movieland being a knickname for the City of Hawthorne, thanks in part due to the film industry in town). Thanks in part to cultural differences between the working class fan base of the Kickers and the high-end jet set fanbase of Galaxy SC, the Movieland Derby is seen as one of the best rivals in not only Xanneria but also Esportiva.
