List of Political Parties in Tumbra
Tumbra is a multi-party democracy, though six parties tend to monopolise votes. Two of these - the Labour and Liberal parties - have provided every single government since 1882, and have provided 27 of Tumbra's 30 Prime Ministers. Before 2008 the Liberal Party was in coalition with two other parties; the Christian Democratic Party and the National Party. Since the 2009 election, however, the Christian Democratic Party has merged into the Liberal Party, and the National Party, while organisationally separate, contests elections under the Liberal Party banner, and its members sit in the Liberal Party room.
Parties in the Federal Parliament are often described by their party colours; Labour uses red, the Liberals use blue (and the Nationals use dark green), yellow for the Moderate Party, green for the Greens, dark blue for the Conservatives and dark red for the Social Democrats. Independents typically use grey; though their presence on the federal level is rare.
