Guides and resources to help maintain consistent and accurate language use.

Titles and headings

  • Article titles and headings should be in sentence case except for proper nouns. When in doubt, use sentence case.
    • Samplestan Football League (if that's the proper name of it) but Football leagues in Sampleregionia and Samplestan football league system, not Samplestan Football League System.
    • Water polo at the Olympics, not Water Polo at the Olympics
    • World Cup final, Australian rules football

Numbers

  • Spell out numbers less than or equal to ten, use numerals for larger numbers. Spell out a number if it begins a sentence (try to avoid this if possible).
    • A total of 32 teams entered the tournament. Twenty of them represented seven countries, while the other 12 represented one country each.

Non-breaking space

  • Using   prevents a line break and is useful in things like scores in playoff brackets and to prevent a line ending in the space between expressions like 76 million (76 million).
