The 87th edition of the Baptism of Fire was a football tournament held in Farfadillis, Banija and Equestria prior to World Cup 100. It was the largest Baptism of Fire in history with 112 participating national teams. The competition was open to every unranked team as of the World Cup 100 cycle that had not previously participated in a Baptism of Fire. Shin-Zetsubo won the tournament, beating Choppyhausen in the final.

Host selection

Two bids were submitted to host the competition. Following the preferential voting system specified by the World Cup Committee constitution, Farfadillis, Banija and Equestria were awarded the hosting rights.

A total of 112 nations entered the 87th Baptism of Fire. As all teams were unranked there was no seeding, with all teams randomly assigned into 28 groups of 4 teams. Groups 1-10 played their group stage matches in Banija, Groups 11-19 played their group stage matches in Farfadillis and Groups 20-28 played their group stage matches in Equestria.

After the end of the tournament, the Stewartikan Football Association Technical Study Group (SFATSG) honored the excellence displayed over the course of the tournament with a number of special player awards.

Golden Ball (Player of the Tournament)

The Golden Ball award, SFATSG's Player of the Tournament award, was given to Choppyhausenian striker Jule Corte for his tireless workrate for his country, constant presence and leadership in attack, despite failing to lift the trophy.

Silver Ball

Leading Snestar’s defense to five consecutive clean sheets and becoming an iron wall in front of goal, Calvaresi had the tournament of his life as a keeper. The classlessness shown at the end of the semifinal, however, dissuaded the SFATSG from awarding him the coveted Golden Ball.

Bronze Ball

The unique system of Shin-Zetsubo allows anyone on the pitch to score, and indeed this was shown in the Despair Girls having the most unique goalscorers in the tournament with fourteen players netting in the eight match days. It was difficult, then, to pick out an individual performance from this team that truly deserved awarding, but Dwerryhouse’s consistency awards her the Bronze Ball.

Golden Boot

The Golden Boot was awarded to Deadman, who scored twelve goals across eight matches, one of them spent suspended.

Bronze Boot

Aitor Cea, Tero Sjölund, and Chop were tied on 6 goals. Cea takes the Bronze Boot due to having less total minutes played than the other two goalscorers.

Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper)

Despite being tied with Ira Budi Dharmawanto on clean sheets, with five each, and failing to keep a clean sheet past the Round of 32, the SFATSG justified their decision to award the Golden Glove to Federico Calvaresi with to the near-unprecedented achievement of keeping 5 consecutive clean sheets in an international tournament.

Best Young Player

The Best Young Player award was given to Super Earth's 18-year-old striker Deadman who also received the Golden Boot Award. The SFATSG additionally expressed special recognition, to Henrick Whyatou of Demos (Atymnius)for his astounding individual performance against Colmaijo that rallied his team to advance to the Round of 16.
