Choppyhausen, officially the Democratic Republic of Choppyhausen, is a parliamentary republic in Arterra. It borders Etarria in the north, Lepta by the east and lies on the ocean in the west. The nation is divided into seven states which have a total combined population of around 36 million. The nations capital and largest city is Choppingen, other major urban areas include Vastonburg, the Irstria-Drehstatt area and Kork.
The name Choppyhausen derives from the Choppy River that flows through four of Choppyhausen's seven states and the Choppi word Hausen ('home').
Settlement in the area of modern Choppyhausen began around 10,000 BCE with various tribes inhabiting it from 5,000 BCE onward, mostly along the coast and around the Choppy River, from which the country takes its name. In the 14th century, seven states had formed in the area, commonly referred to as the seven kingdoms of Choppyhausen. In 1844 the seven kingdoms were unified under the rule of King Klemens III of Tarnau who was then crowned King of Choppyhausen. In 2037, the Mahssonní dynasty that had ruled the kingdom since 1844, was overthrown by democratic revolutionists who established the Democratic Republic of Choppyhausen in the kingdom's place. In 2038, Choppyhausen's first national elections were held.
Choppyhausen is governed by a group of ministers called the Council of Choppyhausen. The Council is decided by the governing parties after the election for the National Assembly - the nation's parliament. Any proposed legislation has to be accepted by both the Council and the National Assembly to be passed. The Assembly is elected every four years.
History
Settlement in the area of modern Choppyhausen began around 10,000 BCE with various tribes inhabiting it from 5,000 BCE onward, mostly along the coast and around the Choppy River.
In the 14th century, seven states had formed in the area: the Kingdom of Tarnau, the Duchy of Bromberg, the Vastonan Kingdom, the Principality of Lyck, the Kingdom of Arcen, the Duchy of Eck-Reuss and the Duchy of Darcia. While only three of these seven nations were actual kingdoms and the name Choppyhausen was rather uncommon at the time, today all seven are commonly referred to as the "seven kingdoms of Choppyhausen". In 1844 the seven kingdoms were unified under the rule of King Klemens III of Tarnau who was then crowned King of Choppyhausen.
The kingdom was ruled under the Mahssonní dynasty for around 200 years. During their isolationist rule, the Choppyhausenian industry grew and the economy flourished but civil liberties and possibilities for political participation were few. In the early 2000s the call for more democratic participation grew louder and eventually led to a civil uprising in 2037 that dethroned the king. After the fall of the monarchy, a temporary council of revolutionary leaders from each region of Choppyhausen was created - the Council of Choppyhausen. It was tasked with the mission to ensure stability and soon the first democratic elections.
In September 2038, the first elections for Choppyhausen's new parliament - the National Assembly - were held.

Choppyhausen's national football team regularly participates in international football tournaments like the World Cup and the Independent Associations Championship. It celebrated its greatest success at the Baptism of Fire 87 where it reached the second place.
