The 2024 DSAFF Frost Cup, also known as Otterland-RistiLand 2024, is the fourth edition of the Frost Cup, the second-most significant tournament for senior national teams organized by the Democratic Socialist Assembly Football Federation (DSAFF). The tournament is scheduled to take place from December 13, 2024, to January 13, 2025, with Otterland and RistiLand serving as the primary host nations.
For the first time in the competition's history, the Frost Cup involves four nations in hosting responsibilities. In addition to Otterland and RistiLand, Montecrux and Lannistter have provided additional venues, making it the largest and most geographically distributed edition of the tournament to date.
The tournament returns to a 32-team format and includes 11 debutant nations, highlighting the continued expansion of DSAFF competitions. Matches will be held across 27 venues in 25 cities.
History
The 2024 DSAFF Frost Cup marked the fourth edition of the tournament and saw significant milestones in its history. The competition returned to a 32-team format for the first time since 2022, with an expanded roster of teams that included 11 national teams making their Frost Cup debuts: Otterland, Cervetia, Rocheaux, New Angus, Thracia and Crimea, Washeyye, Kùrtàry, MIR, Outer Sparta, Thonburi and The Washington Federation. This expansion reinforced the Frost Cup's growing stature within the DSAFF framework, complementing its role as the winter counterpart to the Comrades Cup.
Qualification to the tournament saw Gondwana and Washeyye secure their spots through the COTEFU route.
Host nation
Two bids were submitted to host the tournament. The first came from Thracia and Crimea on October 6, 2024, and the second — a joint bid from Otterland and RistiLand, supported by Montecrux and Lannistter — was presented on October 31. On November 11, the DSAFF Congress voted, with the Otterland-RistiLand bid winning by a margin of 12 votes to 7.
This was a historic decision for the Frost Cup, marking the first time a tournament would be hosted across four nations, though the competition officially retained the names of the two primary bidders, Otterland and RistiLand. It was the second consecutive Frost Cup to be co-hosted, following the successful 2023 tournament held in Lannistter and Kurdiastan.
Venues
A total of 29 venues across 26 cities were selected to host the 2024 Frost Cup matches. The allocation of venues reflected the collaborative efforts of the four co-hosting nations—RistiLand, Otterland, Montecrux, and Lannistter—with distinct contributions from each.
RistiLand provided six stadiums, leveraging its well-established footballing infrastructure, including large-capacity venues such as the Elsburg Stadium (75,500) and the Bergnamensen (72,727), located in major cities like Elsburg and Bergnamio.
Otterland, in a bold and innovative move, opted to assign a unique stadium for every single match, significantly increasing the number of venues involved and bringing the tournament to a variety of cities. In total, 12 stadiums were selected, with capacities ranging from the Estadio Municipal de Marila in Marila (17,530) to smaller, community-focused venues such as the Hernández Vocational School Field in Costavalle (6,500), included for its historical significance. Many of these stadiums were part of a recent government initiative to modernize sports infrastructure while prioritizing practical, long-term use.
Montecrux and Lannistter, while not officially named as primary hosts, played supporting roles by contributing four and seven venues, respectively. These nations, known for their strong football traditions, added prestigious stadiums such as Montecrux’s Estadi Verendela (63,400) in Onquai and Lannistter’s Luna Parkën (34,000) in Arkhangelsk. All of Lannistter's venues were also picked to host the previous Frost Cup edition, in 2023.

Format
The 2024 Frost Cup marked the return of the 32-team format, last used in the 2022 edition. The final roster of teams included the 30 highest-ranked nations in the DSAFF MexiCola™ Ranking and two additional teams—Gondwana and Washeyye—who secured their places via the COTEFU qualification route.
Teams were seeded into four pots based on their ranking as of December 1, 2024, with hosts Otterland and RistiLand automatically placed in Group A and Group F, respectively. A group-stage draw then divided the 32 teams into eight groups of four. Each group followed a single round-robin format, awarding three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss.
The top two teams from each group advanced to the knockout stage, which included the Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final. The knockout matches were played as single-elimination games, with extra time and penalty shootouts used to determine the winner if necessary. Additionally, a third-place playoff was held for the losing semi-finalists.
