Alavaria is the capital and largest city of Eryn Firith, a republic of Kelssek. Located in the northern foothills of the Boundary Mountains, the peak of Caunidhrenon mountain is a landmark associated with the city. Alavaria's region is a major destination for skiing, mountain biking, and other alpine activities, and it was the host city of the 4th Winter Olympics where events were held at Caunidhrenon and Lamuirean alpine resorts. The city is the home to the Eryn Firith Legislature and government facilities, as well as the University of Eryn Firith. The city's districts include Jearivr, Northwood, and Bishopsford.
Trading settlments have existed on the location of the city since antiquity. The modern city grew out of the foulburgh of Alavaria Castle, which was built around 795 BFE. An incident where the Warlord of Alavaria dispatched men-at-arms to quell a fight at the market on the Dewie river is thought to be the earliest mention of the place in historical records. The region also attracted travellers to the Barilika mineral baths, and was the focus of a hot springs wellness craze in the years shortly before the Kelssek Revolution.
Alavaria is connected to Burnaby by the Konueira Highway 9 expressway and the Konueira Railways Northern Trunk. It see scheduled service from Kelssek's major airlines to the Eryn Firith National Airport (code: ALA) located 12 km to the east.
In professional sports, Alavarian Hockey Club is in the top flight of the Kelssek Hockey League and plays home matches at the Laineá Arena. The 48,000-seat Olympic Stadium regularly hosts second-tier professional rugby.
