Smyrnaphos Cinema Festival

The Smyrnaphos Cinema Festival is the national film award/festival of Tylastrona. The nominations are made, and then selected by a group of TACT (Tylastronian Association of Cinema and Theatre), Ministry of Apollo (Culture) and independent jurors. The awards are often delivered by TACT members, from directors to actors. There's a film showing at the evening before the awards. It was firstly held in 1967, late single-party period, under the government frames. After the 1970 revolution, the categories expanded.

Ceremony

The ceremony takes place in late November (Maimaktēriṓn). During each annual ceremony, TACT pauses in memoriam to pay tribute to those in the industry who have died over the past 12 months, showcasing a montage of images accompanied by music. The High Priestess attends the ceremony since 1972 and the office holder as delivered two prizes: Best Film since 1972 and Best International Film since 1974. The Tylastronian National Broadcast (on TNB 2) broadcasts the ceremony freely.

Which started in the independence 1668, the republican revolution 1845, the military coup 1889, the single party state 1924 and the Theocratic Revolution in 1970. The movie was controversial in the Temple of Athena clergy but all the priestesses didn't condemn it.

Tassakou uses her multilingual approach to film direction to bring an environmental awareness to the Synchrono Drama style.

An animation was so realistic many people had to left the room in tears in the scene where the firefighter holds a toy of a child who had abandoned the village that completly burned.

The film depicts the progressiveness of Tylastronian Priestesshood in Hellenic Polytheism and in Tylastronian Society in general while showcasing the difficulties still lived by creole people.

The film showcases the daily life of a priestess, her worries, her commentaries on the social issues transmited in the film, mainly global warming. The script was written by Zenovia Hanzek, who helped produce, marking the first film winning the prize where one of the people who helped in its production was from the south slavic community.

What follows is a journey in the dreams world with Apollo to save Tylastrona from monoculturalism. Unlike single-party era films (1924-1970), this film is naturally patriotic without forced dialogues.

The film is an alegory to the displacements during the single-party period and to the ambiental changes in the planet. The young wader is guided by the Goddess Gaia.

He showed the script to Zografa-Machida which she said "let's make it a film". This film is psychologically unsettling, the High Priestess Lydia Giannakopoulou (1956-2024) who ruled from 1978 to 2024, when she awarded the film said that this film made her wide awake.
