The Great Pond
The Great Pond is a nation chiefly remembered for their second-place finish in World Baseball Classic 35. They were founded in December 2015, and signed up for both World Bowl XXVIII and WBC35 shortly after. Although the team was unranked and unknown, they swept Equestrian States to advance from Group 4. They swept Super-Llamaland and Levivania, then announced that their team name was The Great Pond Ducks. The Ducks rallied to defeat Saintland in an eleven-inning game that decided the semifinal series. While their championship series with Schiltzberg went the distance, it was Schiltzberg who would triumph, and the Ducks ceased to exist later that month. Their name remains a byword for improbable success in the World Baseball Classic, however, leading some to speculate that ducks rather than rubber chickens are Margaret's preferred sacrifice in that competition.
