About
Yakk, officially The Empirical State of Yakk is a rural nation of rough 6 million people in the region of Arrosia. Yakk is known for a steppe like topography, it's agricultural production and it's fierce warrior culture. Yakkians are known for their work in animal husbandry and are know to be profuse archers. The Bow and Arrow was common weapon even before the formation of the Yakk Empire.
History
In 1120 Qasmanrat a coastal city state was invaded by coastal raiders. These raiders would eventually overwhelm the coastal city. Given the nature of Qasmanrat and that it was on the mouth of what is now known as The Yakk River, the raiders set up in Qasmanrat and used it as a base of operations for raids down river to other city states located on the river. After three decades of battles on The Yakk River eventually under the rule of Tsenbayar I The people populating the nation had been unified under Tsenbayar I but in 1156 the unification became official with the Decree of the Yakk River forming the Yakk Empire. The nation drew its name from the Yakk River, so named due to the fact there was a large population of Yaks on the banks of the river. Tsenbayar I had found the area to his liking and wanted to establish a permanent state with in the region and having conquered the small city states along the river he wanted to expand his newfound empire further west. With expansion, the empire began establishing its own cities further westward and establishing outposts for both farming and other agricultural pursuits. Problems arose though as this brought the Yakkians closer to the Lhaskans, who lived northward of the Yakkians. from the 1200s to the 1600s, the Lhaskans engaged in multiple conflicts with the Yakkians. Each conflict ending in a stalemate. While the Yakkians could easily fend off the Lhaskans, they had trouble overcoming the the mountainous terrain the Lhaskans lived in and would usually back off before they went to deep into the Lhaskan Plateau. In the 1700s something was finally done though. Emporer Orbilagar IV finally did away the Lhaskans and in 1759 he invaded. Using a large force of over 90,000 the Yakkians eventually overpowered the Lhaskans and to this day The Yakk Empire still controls the area, all due to these conflicts. The conquest of the Lhaskans also opened a huge amount of mineral resources to the Yakk people.
