Background
After the 13th GCF World Twenty20 Championship, Cricket Grearia from The Grearish Union and the Sylestone Cricket Board from Sylestone came together discussing a cup the two nations could play in. Both recognised the other as a formidable up-and-coming force in the world of cricket. Hence the Esportivan East-West Cup was born, named due to both nations being located on opposite sides of the region of Esportiva. After months of discussion, both boards came to the agreement that the first cup would take place in Sylestone during the dry season.
Cricket for Growth campaign
The Cricket for Growth campaign promoted cricket to be played in disadvantaged communities in both nations and was one of the underlying reasons the series took place. In Grearia, the campaign brings cricket to the poorer regions and encourages people from there to play, while in Sylestone, cricket is brought to both physically and mentally disabled people and adapted so they can play. 50% of the ticket sales from the series will go towards this charity.
