The National Defense Force (NDF) is the unified armed forces of Darmen. It consists of three separate branches: the Air Force, the Army and the Coast Guard. The President of Darmen is the commander-in-chief of the NDF.
Command Structure
The Constitution of Darmen names the President of Darmen as the person ultimately responsible for the national defense of the country. To carry out this responsibility, the President has overall command of all defense, intelligence and law enforcement organizations in Darmen. The President is assisted in this responsibility by the National Security Council (NSC), a six member committee that includes the President, Vice President, secretaries of state for Foreign Affairs, Defense and the Interior and the Director of the National Intelligencery. The NSC is the chief body which dictates Darmen's defense policy.
The Secretary of State for Defense, the head of the Department of Defense, is responsible for carrying out the NSC's policies within the NDF. The secretary is assisted in this responsibility by the NDF General Headquarters. The General Headquarters is made up of the highest ranking military officers and is led by the Chairman of the General Headquarters.
