Current season

Port Rhovanyon AFC is a professional football club in Port Rhovanyon, Rhovannyr, Tikariot, that competes in the Tikariot Premier League, the top tier of Tikariotian football. Domestically, the club has won three League titles.

Founded in 1901, the club joined the Tikariotian Premier League upon its formation in 1920, playing at Oceanview Stadium since the start. Port Rhovanyon established itself as one of Tikariot's top teams in recent years with ten consecutive seasons in the top five.

One of the most widely supported teams in the Tikariot Premier League, Port Rhovanyon has long-standing rivalries with Carathyr Emeralds FC and Port Tacassam FC. The club's anthem is "Leviathan"[1].

History

Port Rhovanyon AFC was founded by dockworkers in the Port Rhovanyon harbour and began to play loose friendly matches around the city and the Rhovannyr province. They were one of the founding members of the Tikariot Premier League, even though success eluded them for a long time. It took them 70 years to break into the top five for the first time, but in the 30 years since then they have been outside of the top ten only five times.

In recent years they have been one of the dominating forces of the TPL, with three championships and two runners-up in the past ten years. They also will be Tikariot's first ever entry into the IFCF Champions League.

Colours and badge

For much of Port Rhovanyon's history its colours have been all white, but over time they added dark blue as accents, while the away colours are all dark blue with white shorts. Their current kits are provided by Tikariotian manufacturer Ferideia and their jersey sponsor is the Rhovanyon Bay Hotels and Resorts chain that operates all along the Rhovannyr province.

Stadium

Oceanview Stadium is part of a sports venue park on the oceanfront in south Port Rhovanyon. It also includes the baseball stadium Oceanview Park as well as a multi-sports dome housing the Port Rhovanyon Kraken (Tikariot Hockey League) and Port Rhovanyon Attack (Tikariot Lacrosse League). The Tikariot Gridiron League team Port Rhovanyon Pirates currently shares the Oceanview Stadium with the AFC, but due to scheduling conflicts and concerns about the state of the pitch have led to them building their own stadium in the city's west.

Support

Port Rhovanyon is one of the best supported clubs in Tikariot and has recently also garnered international attention after winning their third championship. The club states that its worldwide fan base includes more than 80 officially recognised Supporters Clubs in at least 20 countries. The most notable group is the Terror from the Deep group of ultras that accompany the team to every away game and are known for their large kraken banners that unfurl after every goal of the AFC. Like the vast majority of football fans in Tikariot, Port Rhovanyon supporters are peaceful and have stood up against violence in and around stadia more than once.

The fans adopted "Leviathan" [2] as club's anthem used for the entrance of the team into the stadium.

Rivalries

Port Rhovanyon's longest-established rivalries are with the main teams of two fellow harbour towns, namely Carathyr Emeralds FC and Port Tacassam FC. Games between these teams are among the most fiercely competed matches in the TPL with tempers often rising high, both on and off the pitch.

Another big rivalry is with fellow Port Rhovanyon team Emerald Coast Raiders FC, who have been in and out of the Tikariot Premier League, making official derbies an irregular occurence.

Port Rhovanyon in the media

All Port Rhovanyon AFC games are also available on the club's own PRAFC TV streaming service, available to subscribers and all members of the club. The dedicated channel also features documentaries and classic matches.

The Port Rhovanyon Chronicle newspaper has a daily column about the Kraken, dealing with ins and outs and behind the scenes coverage.
