History
The SFL was founded to replace the StrayaRoos Soccer League, which was previously the organizing body for the top divisions of Roosian association football since 1931. The League's first season switched from the Winter schedule that it was using previously, to a Summer schedule. The league initially featured 48 teams across four divisions, but later shrunk to 38 teams. In 2021-22, the league was displaced as the top division by the StrayaRoos Premier League and rebranded the divisions from SFL1, 2, 3 and 4, to the SFL Championship and SFL Conference.
