The Democratic Socialist Assembly Football Federation (DSAFF) is a major administrative and governing body of association football in Delusia. It is headquartered in Clinepalas, Talamia and counts several technical departments in all its affiliated nations.

DSAFF was founded in February 2021, representing national football associations around the world, and running nation and club competitions. Its membership now comprises 22 national associations. Conceived as an exclusive federation for Delusia, over time it also welcomed nationals from the rest of the multiverse, becoming an important reality at an interglobal level.

Today, DSAFF outlines a number of objectives in the organizational Statues, including growing football trans-regionally, providing efforts to ensure football is accessible to everyone, and advocating for integrity and fair play.

History

The nations of Delusia have a long history of organizing sporting events and competitions, with the DSA Winter and Summer Olympics being prominent fixtures on the planet. However, football had never garnered much interest on a large scale.

Situated on the west coast of the continent Romaxia, the nation of Talamia boasts a rich history and culture deeply rooted in football. At that time, Talamia was the only nation on Delusia with its own football federation, the TLS (Talamia Laktisma Summaka), which governed a national football team and the domestic league, the Alfa League. This strong football tradition inspired Talamian sports minister Antheo Karabos to propose the formation of a body to govern football at an international level.

On 5 February 2021, the Delusian Sports and Football Federation (DSAFF) was established, as detailed in the federation's official statute:

"[...] with the aim of organizing football tournaments for clubs and national teams, of spreading the interest in association football, of ensuring football is accessible to everyone, and of advocating for integrity and fair play."

Karabos appointed Oiktirmon-Nicao Paidarion as the president of the newly-formed federation. Paidarion, known for his revolutionary approach to sports organization, had previously been the president and founder of the Talamian club Afestosja.

The federation's primary goal was to organize a tournament for national teams, the Comrades Cup, in the summer of 2021, and a tournament for club teams, the DSA Champions League, set to start in the 2021/2022 or 2022/2023 season, depending on the response from nations within Delusia.

The federation's headquarters were established in Talamia's capital, Clinepalas, along Orisma Odo, the historic street dedicated to football that leads to the national stadium, the EpopSfaira Stadium, home to the Ptoco and SF Lampride clubs.

In April 2021, the federation decided to expand its borders by inviting other nations from outside Delusia.

On May 4, 2021, Paidarion publicly announced the creation of the DSAFF Comrades Cup, the first tournament organized by the federation, which was hosted in Talamia. Sixteen teams participated, and Ardelark emerged as the winner of this inaugural event, which became DSAFF's flagship competition.

In June of the same year, Paidarion announced the organization of three additional tournaments: the DSAFF Rose Cup (a competition for women's national teams), the DSAFF Blossom League (an under-21 national team competition), and the DSAFF Champions League (an annual club football competition contested by top-division Delusian clubs).

The first edition of the Rose Cup was hosted and won by Ukotrium, whose women's national team defeated the Torshavnese Empire women's national football team 2-1 after extra time in the final. Ukotri player Bríxida Barela became the first woman to score a goal in an official DSAFF competition.

The first edition of the Champions League kicked off on September 1, 2021. The tournament involved 32 teams from 16 different nations. The final match was held in Wolf City, Itini, on March 2, 2022, and Artin FC from Itini emerged as the champions.

The Blossom League started on September 17, 2021, involving 18 under-21 national teams. The teams were divided into four different leagues according to their MexiCola™ ranking position, with the winners of each league being promoted at the end of the tournament, and the last ones being relegated. The four winners of the four leagues went on to a knockout stage—consisting of semi-finals, third place playoff, and final—to determine the first Blossom League winner. The Final Four was held in the Republic of Yucatan in February 2022, with Lannistter (from League A) winning the inaugural edition against Talamia (from League B).

On October 23, 2021, Paidarion announced the creation of a fifth tournament organized by DSAFF: the Frost Cup, to be held in December 2021. As the only one to present an official bid, the newly-entered Kazanaty was the host country for the first edition of the new tournament, which was won by Gondwana.

Seven days later, the DSAFF Congress officially elected Alhelí Romero from Yucatan, vice-president of FYF, as its own vice-president. On February 25, 2022, Nora Shakiri from Ardelark was elected president of the non-profit organization Solidarity in Football. In the meantime, DSAFF created two new tournaments: the Friendship Cup, a special tournament organized by SIF each year with different kinds of teams involved (the first edition featured U15 mixed teams and was won by Sörslúth's young survivors of the 2020 Revolution); and the DSAFF Delusia League, a second annual tournament for clubs.

On June 13, 2022, right after the end of the second edition of the Rose Cup, DSAFF president Oiktormon-Nicao Paidarion proposed a vote to the Congress to abolish male and female teams, with the aim of no longer using gender difference as a reason for discrimination. Twenty-one national federations voted and the motion passed. The Rose Cup format was then canceled. From that moment on, the federations were free to register players of any gender or who do not identify with any gender at all in all DSAFF competitions. As a result of the voting, the federations of Ardelark, Taskania, Torshavnese Empire, and Zemlyazvezd left DSAFF.

In August 2022, DSAFF organized the football tournament at the 2022 DSA Olimpia Games in Otrium, Osreton. The tournament involved twelve under-21 national teams and was won by Hortizo. In September, the second edition of the Champions League kicked off along with the first edition of the Delusia League, a minor international tournament organized for clubs from all around the DSAFF Universe. With a total of 48 teams involved, the 2022-23 Delusia League became the largest event ever organized by DSAFF for clubs, and was won by ICBL Epacra Delphis from Talamia.

The 2022 Comrades Cup was won by Talamia, who defeated the host nation Lannistter 3-1 in the final. In December 2022, the second edition of the Frost Cup, hosted by Nordustra, involved 32 teams. For the first time in its history, the federation organized a major international tournament for national teams that involved more than 24 teams. UFS Mexico emerged as the champions of this edition.

In the 2023 Comrades Cup, hosted by Akach, the national team of Akach emerged victorious. The 2023 Frost Cup, co-hosted by Lannistter and Kurdiastan, saw Vicures Islands win the tournament. The Blossom League has continued to provide a platform for young talent, with Yucatan winning the 2022 edition and Talamia claiming the title in 2023. The Champions League saw SK Linse from Nordustra win the 2022-23 edition, while Sórriso Unión from Hortizo won the 2023-24 edition, defeating the previous champions SK Linse in the final. The Delusia League's 2023-24 edition was won by SK Rössk from Lannistter, continuing the trend of exciting club football competitions within the DSAFF framework.

Image

The task of designing DSAFF's first logo was entrusted to the Talamian designer Ule Nkanki, author of the Alfa League and TSS logos.

Nkanki opted for a simple rose, to take up the flag of the Democratic Socialist Assembly, within which he decided to embed a soccer ball. The color red, synonymous with socialism, predominates within the logo. On the left of the squad, almost to give it life, the initials of the federation: DSAFF. A line between the letters separates the acronyms "DSA", underlining them, and "FF", passing through them.

Structure

In total, DASFF recognizes 22 national associations and their associated national teams and football federations as its members. As of August 2021, the football federations outside Delusia are the Ardelarkian Football Federation, the Kepler-0085 Football Federation, the Krbustan Football Federation and the Saralonia Football Federation.

DSAFF has its own ranking system, the DSAFF MexiCola™ Ranking, created to ensure fairer competitions. The DSAFF Rankings are updated after the end of each tournament using the YRF formula. They are based on men's, women's and under-21 national team's and clubs performances in competitions, qualifiers, and friendly matches. Teams are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest.

Laws and governance

DSAFF is headquartered in Clinepalas and it is an association established under the law of Talamia.

DSAFF's supreme body is the DSAFF Congress, an assembly made up of representatives from each affiliated member association. Each national football association has one vote, regardless of its size or footballing strength.

Congress makes decisions relating to DSAFF's governing statutes and their method of implementation and application. Only the DSAFF Congress can pass changes to the statutes. The Congress approves the annual report, decides on the acceptance of new national associations, elects the President of DSAFF and it is also the body that decides which country will host the tournaments. In order to host a tournament edition, you must submit your application. Each application is put to vote and all member associations have equal weight in the decision.
