The Tikariot National League 2 is a semi-professional association football league in Tikariot. It is the fourth level in the Tikariot football league system, under the Tikariot Premier League, the Tikariot Second League and the Tikariot National League 1. The Tikariot National League 2 is the highest semi-professional league in the country and comprises 2 groups of 20 teams each and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Tikariot National League 1 and the Tikariot National League 3. Seasons run from August to May. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played on weekdays. All of the TNL clubs qualify for the Cup of Tikariot.
Overview
The Tikariot National League 2 consists of 2 groups of 20 teams each that compete in a double round robin tournament with the top 2 teams of each group promoting into the Tikariot National League 1 and the bottom 4 being relegated to the Tikariot National League 3. It is a semi-professional league.
Competition format
The Tikariot National League 2 is decided strictly by play. Each club plays every other club once at home and once away. A victory is worth three points, while a draw is worth a single point, and zero points are given for a loss. In each group the two clubs with the most points at the end of the season are promoted to the TNL1 without any playoffs. The four teams at the bottom of the table in each group are relegated into the Tikariot National League 3, while the top four teams in both groups of the TNL3 are promoted.
If teams are level on points, tie-breakers are applied in the following order:
- Goal difference for the entire season
- Total goals scored for the entire season
- Head-to-head results (total points)
- Head-to-head goals scored
- Head-to-head away goals scored
- Total away goals scored for the entire season
If two clubs are still tied after all of these tie-breakers have been applied, a single match is held at a neutral site to determine the placement. However, this has never been necessary in the history of the Tikariot National League 2.
