The Games of the XIII Olympiad were an international multi-sport event held in the city of Republica, capital of the Free Republics. Karate, skateboarding, and sport climbing made their debut as Olympic events at these Games, while baseball-softball also returned to medal event status. Opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Gem of the Oceans Stadium. This Olympics was also notable for the large number of demonstration events. The host nation Free Republics had its most successful performance at an Olympics with its athletes winning a total of 145 medals.
Away from the competition, the Amuaplye delegation was targeted by a number of mail bombs. The tragic death of Liventian skateboarder Frank Nelson and an incident involving an APOC Coalition lacrosse player brought mental health issues into the spotlight. Another major controversy came when athletes from Cassadaigua were filmed abusively "hazing" competitors in the e-sports demonstration event.
Host selection
Republica ran and won an uncontested vote, bidding for the second time after losing out on the host election for the 12th Summer Olympics.
