Participating nations
- See also: Nations at the 15th Summer Olympics
The question of how many nations participated is complicated because in a rule which varies at the discretion of the hosting organizers, the organizing committee allowed delegations to consist of more than one national Olympic committee (NOC) using different NOC codes. NOCs which participated in a combined delegation were subject to the entry limits usually imposed on a single NOC, and their athletes were treated as if they were from the same NOC within competition rules. There were four such combined delegations at the 15th Summer Olympics, combining a total of 22 NOCs: ABEN Union, Team Diarcesia, Dotras, and Teremara. Understood in this way, 93 delegations took part in the Olympics, while 111 NOCs were represented.
